JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 26 :: birthday yoga

26 Jan

Day 26. The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything.

Birthday. Birth. Rebirth. 42.

(this was breakfast!)

Today I’m thinking about birthdays. And birth. And rebirth. And what this 42nd year holds. It is my favorite number! My basketball number! The magical 42.

If you type “what is the meaning of life the universe and everything” into Google it will send you the answer: 42.

And…according to Wikipedia 42 is the angle rounded to whole degrees for which a rainbow appears.

Meaning of Life? Rainbows? Universe? Everything! This sounds good.

So it seems I might be entering the magic. Bring on the magic universe! And a few rainbows. But first… I need to do some birthday yoga…(there might be cake afterwards!).

More tomorrow.

Day 61: can you hear me now?

2 Mar

Did you ever ignore something?
And it just kept showing back up again?

Kind of like telling people on a public blog you are going to do something,
then not doing it, and completely forgetting you were going to do it in the first place — only to have that same exact subject pop up in your life a day later?

It’s like the universe screaming …can you hear me now?

Yeah, that happened to me.
Because, I made a mistake.

I promised to share my UV exposure results with you yesterday, and I didn’t.
I failed, a little bit there, and I’m sorry.

So, imagine my aha moment surprise today while listening to a webinar on digestive issues and the topic of Vitamin D deficiencies kept coming up.

Today, Dr. John Doulliard, noted that 86% of Americans have a vitamin D deficiency, because of lack of sun exposure.

Oh… right! Sun Exposure.
My head exploded.
I was supposed to share the UV exposure quiz details…

So, without any further ado, here are the results.
(In fact, I calculated a few places for you, beyond my zip code.)

Please note, these recommendations are if you are me (Caucasian blond) on today’s date (March 2) standing in the middle of these places.

Seattle, Wash: 26 minutes

Boston, Mass: 17 minutes

New York, NY: 15 minutes

Los Angeles, CA: 8 minutes

Naples, FL: 7 minutes

The Equator: 3 minutes

And, in case you are wondering, it’s 1:53 minutes in Antarctica.

Also note these are the recommended UV exposure of face, hands and arms at least every other day to obtain sufficient vitamin D, equivalent of 25 micrograms vitamin D, if no dietary vitamin D is available.

All of this seems to make sense.

What it makes me think is: Yay – Another investment!

The next time I need a little break, I am going straight to the sun.
It’s not just relaxing and warm, it’s an investment in my Vitamin D.

Just one more reason to step into the light.
