JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 7 – KINDNESS  DAY 134 :: kindness is…

17 May

Today this video was shared with me:

It reminds me of kindness. The video, yes, it’s sweet and thoughtful and inspiring. But the woman who sent it to me gave me more kindness with the touch of a button. She shared it with me because it reminded her of my promise.

It has me thinking about how EASY kindness can be. Just a touch of a button. A share. A whooooosh! And then it is quickly sent off, traveling hundreds of miles over the invisible waves of the internet to land in my inbox.

How easy is that!?
Ridiculously easy.
May you find that kind of kindness.
And share it too!

More tomorrow….

BLOG – GIFT DAY 354 :: it’s not always what you think

20 Dec

I love this ad from Apple.
It reminds me that things are not always what you (initially) think.

We have experienced a year of miracles around here.

So many miracles!
Even though it hasn’t always felt or seemed that way in the moment.

I found a lump in my throat. (scary!)
After surgery it turned out benign. Miracle!

Brady ran away this summer. (scary!)
Brady returned home safely because a wonderful woman found him and called the local radio station. Miracle!

We lost the bikes off the back of our car during our cross country adventure. (scary!)
Nobody was injured. Miracle!

Brady jumped the fence and went on his own adventure. (scary!)
I luckily saw it happen and knew which direction to send Justin on the chase. We found Brady making friends in the neighborhood and safely brought him home. Miracle!

Miracle are everywhere.

Just goes to show things are not always what you (initially) think.
Sometimes you have to wait around for the rest of the story.
Sometimes you have to wait for the miracle to show up.
And sometimes you have to look at it differently to see the hidden gift.

My gift of the day is this:
I wish you many, many miracles.

Thank you for being here.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore {fearless}

P.S. You still have time to join us in The Card Crusade and help spread some cheer this year.You could win a FREE year’s worth of greeting cards from Green Ink Gallery!

{what miracles did you have this year?}

BLOG – GIFT DAY 313 – a month of inspiration :: gratitude

9 Nov

Today, in my month-long nod to inspiration, I share gratitude.

It’s the season to be thankful. In addition to eating copious amounts of turkey and cranberries too. But I digress…

Tonight I ask… what are you grateful for?
This gratitude thing is pretty big actually. From good health to happiness.

Want to know more. Watch this video (if you haven’t already seen it). It beautifully captures the scientific proof that gratitude leads to happiness.

As for me, today I’m grateful for:

  • my favorite pair of comfy sweats (from Martha’s Vineyard)
  • a warm fireplace on a crisp night
  • MOST important, a fun bike ride by the river with Justin on a the sunny day

What are you grateful for?

More tomorrow.
Lovemore {playmore!}

{what are you grateful for today?}

GIFT DAY 046: don’t be scared

15 Feb

Stop what you’re doing…

(pretty please)You have to see this!
It’s a totally creative and fun video that is well worth the seven minute investment to view.
 (The best part is toward the end so enjoy and hang in there for it!)

It reminds me that we are well…. SCARED.

Of something, right?

Whether it’s…

  • Learning to do something
  • Not learning to do something
  • Getting the job
  • Not getting the job
  • Falling in love
  • Not falling in love
  • Going to the doctor
  • Not going to the doctor
  • Swimming
  • Dancing
  • Running
  • Fill in the blank _____________________
I love Asa’s take on how to get over being scared. It’s brilliant. (Watch the video!)
More tomorrow.

Day 261: the power of being unlimited (video)

18 Sep

If there’s one good thing about being under the weather it’s being glued to the screen.

These past few days have seen me a little peaked and drained and plunked right in front of YouTube. It’s funny what happens when your brain goes fuzzy long enough to be hooked up to the the IV otherwise known as online video.

And today I found this.

Kyle Cease, @kylecease, has been doing stand up comedy since grade school. He’s been in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You (which I never saw) and numerous television appearances, events, performances, and he also has a video on YouTube I stumbled upon today called, The Power of Being Unlimited.

It’s worth a view.
Even if you aren’t under the weather.

Here’s to you.

DAY 3: the inspiration

3 Jan

I have to credit Debbie Phillips, founder of Women On Fire for giving me the “spark” of inspiration behind The Promise 365.

Debbie took me to Lake Austin Spa Resort (check it out if you haven’t already, it is amazing!) for a week working on Women On Fire marketing projects (yes, we were really working at the spa, promise).

Here’s the video we took on the grounds of Lake Austin where I found my inspiration and explain my big decision.

So, I know it sounds simple.

And, I know it may also sound a little silly.

But, this is what I would love you to think about: what if you dedicated one entire year to really understanding what you put in and on your body? What would you do? What promise would you make to yourself?

What am I learning? For one thing, I choose chocolate when I really want comfort. I buy dresses when I want to feel beautiful and I purchase shoes when I need to express my creativity.

What I know is true: while shoes are a passion, dresses make me feel pretty and chocolate is pure joy, they do not compare to an hour of power yoga or one minute of meditation.
