JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 168 :: trust the sun

17 Jun

The weather forecast calls for rain this week but I am concentrating on the sun. We have a wedding to attend this weekend and we just put little porch lights out on the deck so I have decided to will summer’s presence. Rain or shine.

Maybe trust is more will than patience? Regardless I think it’s best to be the sun in the summer. OR at least trust that it will show up!

I think that statement applies to many aspects of life. Maybe that’s why we all talk about the weather so much…

Trust me!

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 307 :: joy is new clothing

5 Nov

It’s fall here, and really, almost winter. Which requires an entirely different wardrobe! So, I am here to say that my joy of the day is new clothing.

I know… surprise, surprise. But it was a surprise! My Stitch Fix arrived and while I was skeptical at first… I have to say my stylist nailed it on this shipment. So… double joy! New clothes and I didn’t even have to go shopping. A time savers dream.

Joy is something new for your closet and some threads for a new season.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 48 :: snow day

18 Feb

We woke up to snow this morning. A slight dusting across the land leaving everything white capped and wintery. Even the flowers that are poking up out the ground outside my window.

They have delicate little yellow bulbs waiting to open. I worried about them today. But the truth is, Mother Nature knows best.

And those little delicate flowers probably know exactly what to do to survive a February snow and when to do it. Much like I think we all do. We all know what to do deep down in our heart of hearts. There is always that truth.  The heart truth.

So I will keep watching those flowers out my window. And hope the sun will come out tomorrow to warm them back up.

And… In my heart, I already know it will.

More tomorrow…

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 8 – DAY 19 :: the joy of sprouting

19 Jan
{winter joy}

It’s winter. And in the thick of January, I was surprised -and so very excited- to see these little sprouts today. They are pushing their way back up.

They are doing what they do best – finding their way back. It seems effortless. Just looking at the little sprouts take formation and rise up above it all. We don’t see all that goes on underneath the surface, below ground.

I wonder if that is how the inner working of JOY actually works? Simple. Easy. Effortless. Allowing.

Here’s to allowing!

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 33 :: snow day!

2 Feb
So, I made it to Chicago. And all I have to say is… SNOW DAY!

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness. So much snow from east to midwest and back again. This is definitely bliss for someone out there who loves winter…. but it wasn’t bliss conditions for travel.

But I’m here! I made it. Snow falls but Bliss on.

More tomorrow.

 {winter or summer?}

JAMIE’S BLOG – DAY 301 :: drive and determination

30 Oct
The seasons are changing…. and if you needed any proof of the dropping temperatures… I give you Brady.

Who somehow climbed up into this chair and wrapped a blanket around himself….all by himself…

And then plopped down to get comfy in front of the heater. On the chair.

I guess winter is coming!

More than anything it reminds me of drive and determination. If you want something enough, or are in enough pain you will find a way to make it happen.

Peak performance?

More tomorrow.

BLOG – GIFT DAY 329 :: a month of inspiration :: miracles and roses

25 Nov

Today, in my month-long nod to inspiration, I share a rose.

In this week of gratefulness and gratitude I am reminded to count my blessings. Because while some things in life last longer than you can possibly imagine, others drift by with a blink of an eye.

I thought the growing season was over …like so long ago! I thought the last surprise rose in bloom had already passed us by.

It turns out I was wrong.
We have another pink rose in bloom, amongst the morning frost and the November cold.

And, so today, I celebrate more than a winter rose.
I celebrate miracles.

I am inspired by the every day kind of magical miracles blooming under my nose.  The ones with petals and the ones without.

Some occur in the moments right before the sun rises and my pups rise along with it. Others occur in a happy note, a wink, a laugh, a smile from a stranger, a knowing look, a nod, or a song.

Instead of waiting for a miracle I am reminded to stop, open my eyes, look around and smell the roses that abound.

It is, after all, the only way to recognize a miracle blooming right under your nose.

More tomorrow.

BLOG – GIFT DAY 320 a month of inspiration: free fun!

16 Nov

Today, in my month-long nod to inspiration, I share free fun.
I love fun.

And I really love FREE fun.

So tonight, in honor of the season, I share some fun and FREE inspiration:

31 Days of Free Winter Fun

This one’s from Redbook and worth the read.

From Hot Cocoa (which I am literally making right now — after I started popping popcorn and forgot to put the kernels in the machine as it whirred and whirred in the kitchen) to creating the best  snowman ever, these ideas have something to please everyone.

More tomorrow.

GIFT DAY 020: winter and strolling on the beach

20 Jan

I woke up and spotted a little girl pushing a stroller on the beach.

She was adorable in pink. I was actually impressed with her ability to push the stroller wheels through the sand.

Just seeing her outside my window made me want to be outside playing in the sand too.

So we went outside in our pajamas, off to play our favorite game — The Search For Heart-Shaped Rocks.

We found a few good ones.

Including this BIG one in the picture below, taken with a bottle of wine we were given because of the name: “Beach House.”

It was 53 degrees this morning and gorgeous!

We climbed up to the top of the big rock on the beach and I drank my morning coffee. In my pajamas. On top of a rock!

There’s something wonderful about winter on the beach.

Very few people.

Lots of sand.

And random warm and sunny days. Sure, snow is coming tomorrow, but…

The warm weather gave us a moment to pause and reflect. To be thankful and to dream.

Speaking of dreams….

Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Here’s to your dreams.

More tomorrow.

{And my gift of the day was a six-pack of beer for Brian. Had to share for the big game today. Go Pats!}

Day 363: isn’t it ironic :: summer street

30 Dec

Happening in the opposite way to what is expected, thus typically causing wry amusement.

Today, Justin’s mother and I stumbled upon this winter wonderland view and we both laughed out loud saying, “How ironic!”

Summer Street, winter, thepromise365, jamie eslinger

I find it ironic that Summer Street was cased with snow — not to mention that I (flip flop girl!) ended up in the middle of winter this winter.

It was a bit of a surprise for us to land on Minot Beach, and I am honestly surprised at how fun it has been too.

Today it was fun to see snow collected at the beach.

Not to mention Justin’s new orange hat!

And Justin’s mother scale the huge rock on the beach in a single bound…

With Brady in tow!

Isn’t it amazing what we think we can’t do before we do it.

Like snow on Summer Street.
Winter on the beach.
Hats that are orange.
Climbing a big, old rock.

It’s kind of ironic.
And I kind of love it.

Fearlessly Forward!
