JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 87 :: spring break

28 Mar

Day 87: Ah sun.

The sun was back out today and so were we. This is vacation week for me so tonight’s post will be short but sweet… with photos that is.

Can you spot the hearts?

Now… on to sun salutations.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 79 :: march madness

20 Mar

Day 79: Brackets.

There is no madness like March. Because there is nothing more powerful than a clock running down to bring the power of NOW into right NOW.

I sat on the edge of my seat tonight watching Texas A&M secure their sweet spot  in nothing short of a miracle. And my heart fell for Northern Iowa as their own miraculous path disintegrated in not one – but two – overtime opportunities.

“This is madness!” I yelled at the television screen many times. “Madness!”
And it is madness I tell you. The Madness of marching to the final four.

And while nothing is more exciting than watching heroes born in the final moments of a game with time running off the clock, it’s also exhausting.

And that has me thinking…it is a not so gentle reminder that every second counts. In our games, in our sports, in our lives the time is ticking.

It’s madness really how fast time flies. Madness. But I suppose that is always our choice, how to bring the power of NOW into right NOW.

So right now…I am off to do some yoga.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 55 :: expanding within

25 Feb

Day 55. Stretch.

Tonight’s yoga was a little post-workout routine – or post-tennis for us. That’s because the sun came out and we are learning that when the sun comes out everyone rushes outside up here in the Great Northwest.

For us, today, that rush was tennis. And then a little yoga.

And I have to say, I think that is what I am learning… a little bit goes a long way. My daily yoga may not be intense but it’s building. It’s happening. I’m showing up.

And my muscles are stronger. Both the ones you can see — and the ones you cannot. Some muscles take resistance workouts to build up mass — others take conditioning: the muscles of hope, grace, joy, courage, forgiveness, love.

Every day adds up.
You are what you eat.
You become what you stretch.
You do what you do.
You are what you think.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 44 :: let them eat cake!

13 Feb

Day 44. Homemade.

This is what homemade chocolate cake looks like:

Justin made it this morning…And I can guarantee it won’t last long! Happy pre-Valentine’s Day. So tonight I had my yoga and my cake too. I did ten extra minutes of yoga… so that’s at least one more slice of cake, right?

Right.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 31 :: magical woods

31 Jan

Day 31. One-Hundred Acre Woods.

It sounds like Winnie-The-Pooh and Robin Hood too. The One-Hundred Acre Woods. I’ve heard about it from a few people now. As in, “You live right next to the one-hundred acre woods!”

So, today, we set out to find them.

Not all 100 of them, of course that will take years I think (maybe… right?), but find a few of them we did! Pup sniffed his way through every piece of acre we covered. Brady helped too. Pointing us in the right direction.

It felt a bit magical in a Sherwood Forest sort of way. We didn’t meet any merry men but did meet several other dogs and their owners, and runners, and bikers. And I met a very sweet woman (named, you guessed it, Robin!) who stopped to talk with Brady.

“Vizsla?” She said.
“Yes!” I answered.

And in some odd way I felt like somehow I knew her, or had met her before. She gave me some local tips and then buried her face next to Brady’s and patted him on the head. Almost like she had met him before too.

Then off into the woods she walked. And I thought…Nice to meet you Robin. Thanks for sharing your woods.

Tonight, as I reflect on our day (and my sore muscles from our hike) I wonder what else there is to explore in our new world (besides yoga = which I already did for the day!).

It’s not Nottingham.. it’s Bellingham.
And I think she still has some magic to show us.

More tomorrow.

Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 19 :: quick and effective

19 Jan

Day 19. quick.

Tonight’s yoga was quick but deeply deliberate. Strong yet still soft.
And I find that sums me up sometimes.

More tomorrow.
