JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 182 :: flow is wolf backwards

7 Jul

Day 182: WOLF!

I have a friend who told me this once:
FLOW is WOLF backward.

And tonight, I’m feeling a little more flow than wolf. But it has me thinking about this yoga every damn day! Somedays I just need to just go with the flow. And others I need to bring out the full-on WOLF inside of me just to get through it.

Speaking of Wolf, here’s my resident wolf.

And now I flow.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 146 :: oh lavender

30 May

Day 146: Just a little stretch.

Tonight I stretched. Just a little yoga. Not much, but enough.
And I’m okay with that.
Sometimes not much but enough is exactly what the doctor ordered.

And then, there is lavender. And the lavender infused bath I took tonight.

My favorite scent. It reminds me of Lake Austin Spa. So yummy. So lavender. So calming. So perfect to rub on my skin before I go to sleep. And the light bulbs. Yes, light bulbs.

My friend tipped me off that you can dab just a bit of lavender essential oil on top of a light bulb…and then when you turn it on it turns up the scent. Genius.

A little stretch.
A little lavender.
A lot of calm.
Night. Night.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

{keep calm}

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 122 :: yoga done!

2 May

Day 123: Complete.

Yoga done. For today at least.
It’s funny, I never would have thought when starting a promise six years ago that it would lead to this. Doing yoga every night.

But so far, so good. No major acrobatic powers, I can not leap buildings in a single bound, I have not lost weight, I have not turned into a chanting guru.

But Pup… he has found a new bed: apparently all you need is a yoga mat and a blanket. Under that blanket on top of that mat is a Pup.

And, so, it proves that everybody starts their yoga journey somewhere.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 119 :: upward facing laughter

29 Apr

Day 119: Giggles.

Tonight Justin and I did partner yoga… and as I fell over, giggling, I realized something. It’s really quite simple and profound.

Everything is better with laughter.
And laughter times two is even better than that.

It’s upward facing laughter, really.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 88 :: waterfall

29 Mar

Day 88: Gravity.

Through a walk in the forest today I was reminded about gravity. As in waterfalls.

Water goes where gravity takes it. Carving out a path without second-guessing, without hesitation, without pushing back. It just is where it is, whenever it is, how it is, passing by the scenery, falling to the earth, and then moving on.

Such a good reminder.
To be like water.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 83 :: a little giggle goes a long way

24 Mar

Day 83: Joy.

I was moved to giggles today watching this video from Soul Pancake. It’s amazing what a puppy can do… so little, so unassuming, so f*ing cute.

These puppies were delivered to a nursing home, a daycare and a gym. What do they all have in common? See for yourself:

It makes me realize a few things:
1. A few cute puppies could probably sell almost anything (including dog food)
2. There is nothing more moving than Joy

And now, I’m about to go get some yoga joy on.
Here’s hoping you have some joy in your day too.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 43 :: a love bug story

12 Feb

Day 43. Happy endings.

As in waiting patiently for the end of the story.

The Beetle is back, she’s up and running again and ready for the road. But she taught us many things while she was on vacay (or in the shop as some might say).

For one, she taught us discovery. If we didn’t have her for the last week we wouldn’t have discovered on foot the park right behind us (with tennis courts!) or the path right below us (with a salmon ladder because that’s where the salmon swim when they are on the run, apparently!) or the labyrinth nearby, or how comical it is to walk a labyrinth with two dogs (especially our fast-paced color outside the lines kind of dogs).

We also wouldn’t have discovered the walkway that leads to downtown, a mere ten-minute walk from our front door. With a grocery store and everything else one would need, chic boutiques, restaurants, pubs….expansive water views!

But most of all, the gift was this: patience.

If we had not waited patiently for the parts to arrive we wouldn’t have found all the magical, fun stuff around us (maybe in time, but not on foot). But we also wouldn’t have talked to the man at Autozone who pointed us to the man who is now our new mechanic (who charges way less than the VW dealer and seems to know way more about customer service).

It is, as it seems, exactly as it was meant to be. As if the Beetle is now laughing, rightly sitting back in her parking spot, saying, “See, I told you so.”

There is always a gift in everything. Waiting for it to show up is what they call the journey. Recognizing when it arrives, well, that’s always the hardest part (to order and install).

And it all has me thinking…. sometimes more magic comes from the pause rather than the push. Maybe that’s all this yoga talking. Either way….

Beep. Beep.
The Love Bug is back.

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 6 – YOGA DAY 40 :: grace and joy

9 Feb

Day 40. Reset.

Yoga for the night is complete. And before I turn in, I’m compelled to share two words: grace and joy. They have been following me around lately. Grace. Joy.

As in, graceful moves, joyful moves. Graceful. Joyful.

Grace-full.
Joy-full.

I’m not necessarily an expert at either – far from it. I trip, fall, stumble. I sometimes get too obsessed with the end result and miss the joyful journey along the way.

And so, this yoga promise of mine has me thinking…. Maybe I’m learning to be more graceful with my body …and more joyful about the journey.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see…

More tomorrow.
Lovemore,
Jamie
