{trust}

Tomorrow, I fly. Off to Chicago and onto another work adventure. Flying is a matter of trust, whether it is in life, in love or in career… you must fly like you trust wind.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 197 :: trusting in a verb

16 Jul

{trust}

I am finding that trust is verb…. trusting is a constant state of being. It is taking one step forward.

Sometimes in order to bloom that is what we must do. Trusting….one step at a time.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 186 :: trust yourself

5 Jul

{trust}

It’s already a hot, steamy morning here. Happy July 5th. We are escaping the confines of a broken air conditioner to head toward the coast and see a few mansions in Newport. Before we go I was inspired to post my blog early…. like waaaaaaay early for me, in the morning.

I usually post at night, after the rhythms of the day have caught up with me and my mind has had time to process the message of the moment. Because I made a promise to myself. It includes posting a blog every single day. It’s nine years later.

I have done this for almost a decade now. Not every day is spectacular or includes fireworks (like last night). Not every message is profound or life-changing, although some have been (like the time I survived three surgeries in 8 months). Not every day has been adventurous (hello, swimming with sharks) or beautiful (thank you, grand canyon) or transitional (goodbye east coast, hello west coast, hello again east coast). But I have been here every single day now.

I only bring this up because I intrinsically understand the power behind a promise. So when I read this article this morning, “The Science of Developing Mental Toughness” I nodded my head in agreement.

“Mental toughness comes down to your habits. It’s about doing the things you know you’re supposed to do on a more consistent basis. It’s about your dedication to daily practice and your ability to stick to a schedule.”
– James Clear

Mental toughness is also about trusting yourself to show up for yourself, by yourself, when no one else is looking or cares. It is a daily practice (whether you blog or not).

Of course, it feels good to have a little help from our friends and cheerleaders and supporters too. But, mental toughness, I have learned is sticking to the calling in your heart even when no one believes in you, or understands you, or follows you. In fact, it might be most profound when they do not.

So here’s the dream in your heart and the persistence in your head. You got this!

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 172 :: shine your light

21 Jun

{trust}

Tonight I am sending my love out to one of my teachers and reflecting on the power of believing in the gifts and talents of someone else.

That is what our mentors and teachers do best, seeing a version of ourselves that we can’t quite imagine yet. Or a future self that we cannot grasp in the current state of reality.

Our teachers show us we can shine our bright light. They believe in the future version of the current reality which may be the best compliment one can ever receive. It’s not unconditional love, it’s unconditional belief.

Because when someone else sees something in you that you could never spot on your own it is priceless.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 170 :: trust the memories

19 Jun

{trust}

The best part of seeing family is sharing memories and laughter. Since we have family in town and are preparing for a wedding weekend this thought is sitting so sweetly on my heart. Love and trust.

The best memories are the ones made with love & trust.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 161 :: trust, love and big papi

10 Jun

{trust}

If there is one thing about returning to Boston this year, it is for the love of sports. We are sitting on the edge of our seats for the Red Sox tonight. As the game goes into extra innings we are going into extra prayers for the biggest of them all, Big Papi.

Just last week we wore our Big Papi jerseys to the game. Even though he hasn’t played for years now, we still hold a space in our hearts for the man, the myth, the legend, Number 34. And now, we pray for his speedy recovery.

It seems Big Papi is also on his way back to Boston, this time for medical care. In this surreal moment of life there are so many prayers and love in the world for this Boston hero, and I am holding onto TRUST that all will be well.

All sports are built on love, trust, and prayers, especially in key game moments. This seems to be one of them. You got this, Big Papi!

Trust me.

More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 154 :: trust the big picture

3 Jun

{trust}

I am boarding a jet plane after stepping off another.  As I was sitting on the plane it occurred to me that the view from up in the heavens is a good reminder that there is always a bigger picture.

Here’s to trusting the bigger picture!

More tomorrow.

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 151 :: trust the stars

31 May

{trust}

I’m looking up at the stars tonight from my spot on an island in the middle of the ocean. What the sky is telling me is this:

Trust the stars they have been aligned from the day of your birth.
You got this.
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 144 :: trust you got this

25 May

{trust}

It’s Mayhem around here, and we did it. Today was our final day of Mayhem, i.e. OrangeTheory’s excuse to kick your butt for a week in order to earn a free hat and towel. I don’t think I have never been so proud of a hat and towel before in my life.

Being on this side of the challenge reminds me that half of it was really mental, not physical. Even though my body aches I know it was mind over matter to complete 5 Mayhem workouts.

And this is what brings me back to trust. You have to trust that you already have what you need to do what you want… even if your lungs, legs and abs are screaming out in pain.

Even if it is Mayhem, you can do this.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie

JAMIE’S BLOG – YEAR 9 – DAY 132 :: trust your inner unicorn

13 May

{trust}

Oh, trust. You are sending me on an adventure this year. Every year starts with a promise but I never really know where it is going. I am happy to say that tonight trust has brought me to a really good place and some really good news. Namely, my sister came out of surgery today with flying colors and the best prognosis possible. What a relief.

These unicorn moments in time always make me stop and think, sometimes pause. These moments also put everything on hold including our breath until we know the outcome. It reminds me that life is short and we have to trust our dreams.

Let them sweep you off your feet.

  You have time and you got this.

Trust me!
More tomorrow.

Lovemore,
Jamie
